Sachin De Silva wins under 19 final

Sachin De Silva of St. Peter’s College defeated Mahela Thalpawila also of the same school to emerge the under 19 singles champion at the Colombo Central Zonal Badminton Championships conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Badminton Association at D.S. Senanayake Vidyalaya on Sunday.

De Silva defeated Thalpawila in two straight sets, 21\15, 21/13. In the under 17 age segment, Kamoth Halambage won a double by defeating I. De Silva 21/19, 21/13 in the singles final and then teamed with V. Karanagoda to beat Ashen Collins and Imesh De Silva 21/17, 22/20 in the doubles final.

Under 11: Sandir Kaluarachchi beat Sathira Karunasinghe 21/18, 16/21, 21/17. Under 13: R. Halambage beat Druvinka Perera 21/09 , 21/14.

Under 15: Ryan Fernando beat Harindu Adikari 21/18, 14/21, 23/21.

Under 19: Sachin De Silva beat Mahela Thalpawila 21/15, 21/13.

Doubles: Under 13: T. Rahubadda and R. Karunatilake beat R. Halambage and Geshan Karunatilake 21/18, 21/17. Under 17: K. Halambage and V. Karanagoda beat Ashen Collins and Imesh De Silva 21/17, 22/20. Under 19: Harindu Hettiarachchi and R. Pasqual beat D. Ranatunge and P. Sampath 21/15, 21/08.
