SKM all island badminton doubles in Kurunegala

The SKM all island under 15 inter school Badminton doubles tournament will be held from August 8-11th at the municipal council indoor stadium Kurunegala commencing at 9.00 a.m. each day. The winners will receive the
W. Jinasena De Silva Trophy.
This tournament is jointly conducted by the Sri Lanka School’s Badminton Association and North Western Province Badminton Association for the sixth time and is sponsored by SKM Lanka Holding Private Ltd., for the fourth successive year.
The tournament will be held in five divisions and over 1000 competitors from 41 boys and 37 girls schools are scheduled to participate in this four day tournament. Ananda College, Colombo won the super “A” division title for boys by defeating arch rivals Nalanda College in last years’ final. Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda clinched the girls super “A” division title last year by overcoming Yasodara BMV in the final.
Wayamba Chief Minister Athula Wijesinghe and the Kurunegala Mayor Nimal Chandrasiri de Silva will be the guests at the opening ceremony.
The closing ceremony will be held on Thursday, August 11 at 4.00 pm. The sports minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage will grace the occasion as the chief guest with Minister Johnston Fernando as the guest of honour.
