Richmond wins Under 12 All-island badminton crown

Richmond College won the all island inter schools under 12 team badminton championship for the third consecutive year. The tournament was held at the Richmond College Badminton Courts, Galle on October 25.
The defending champions had to win a close final to retain their title in the Super ‘A’ division defeating Rahula College, Matara by three matches to two. The winning Richmond squad comprised of – Thilina Hansapathum (Captain), Vimu Pathirana, Tumarsha Dilhara, Hataranga Dias, Chamath Dias, Chirath Illeperuma and Madupa Jayaratne.
In the Girls Super ‘A’ division, Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda, had an easy win overpowering Sirimavo Bandaranaike Vidyalaya by three matches to nil in the final.
St. Peter’s College won the ‘A’ division championship while Royal College emerged Runners-up. The Girls in the ‘A’ division had Lindsay College recording an easy victory over Sangamiththa, Galle, by three matches to nil.
