T. M. Dilshan retained his captaincy for Sri Lanka's tour of South Africa, later this year, despite back to back loses since being appointed as captain. This is his fourth assignment as the captain of Sri Lanka but the opening batsman is yet to win a series as captain in any form of cricket since last June.

The notable absentee of the team is usually consistent Tilan Samaraweera, who boasts a test average of 52.61 as a batsman.

Samaraweera was omitted from Sri Lanka's three match test series against Pakistan in UAE, where Sri Lanka lost the series 1-0.However, Sri Lankan selectors have included spinner Ajantha Mendis in the test squad to South Africa. Mendis was also omitted from the test series against Pakistan last month.

Sri Lanka also misses the service of seasoned wicket keeper batsman, Prasanna Jayawardane, because of a groin injury.

South African pitches are bounce and fast. The current form of the lankans batting will be tested by the likes of Phillender, stayn, morkel.
Srilankan fans are already fed up and dissapointed of the perfomance. It will be intresting to see the excuse by the captain of Srilanka after every matches in South Africa.

Our wonderful captain will say “we will come back strong” after every match is lost. That is his catch word. We will wait and see what this team is going to do against the likes of Steyn, Morkel and Philander. We saw how Australia performed against South Africa.

Our Selectors should be sacked how can Dilshan with all his failures find a place in the squad when Thilan who is the same age as Dilshan and had reached the peak of his international career just after the English tour with ICC test batmen ranking No 9 when Dilshan was No 26 even now Thilan is No 16 and Dilshan No 29 Ajantha Mendis may be in the squad most probably Dilshan will see to it that Ajantha Mendis will be 12th man as Dilshan thinks he is a front line spinner
