SLC elections on December 27

Much awaited elections of Sri Lanka Cricket will be held on December 27, the ministry of Sports announced Tuesday. Nominations will be called within 14 days from November 25.

According to the clause (40) A of Sri Lanka sports act, the director of sports of the ministry of sports will be calling for applications from interested parties who wish to hold office in Sri Lanka Cricket, generally known as SLC. Elections will be held 30 days after calling nominations.

The Interim committee, which had been appointed to look after the matters pertaining to the game of cricket in Sri Lanka, was dissolved by the minister of sports last week. The minister of Sports, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, has done so with a view of holding SLC .

The minister appointed Mr. Udaya Seneviratne, the secretary of the ministry of Sports as the competent authority of Sri Lanka cricket until the elections is held.

Now, the date being declared to hold SLC elections, the minister has appointed Mrs. Ranjani Jayakody, the director of sports in the ministry, to conduct the elections on December 27.
