India win SAFF Cup
India defeated Afghanistan by 4 goals to nil in the final of the 9th SAFF tournament played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi yesterday. Around 15,000 spectators witnessed the game.
India scored their goals in the 67th, 79th, 83rd and 94th minutes respectively. However the Afghans managed to hold the strong Indians until their skipper Hamidullah Yousufzai was red carded in the 63rd minute. Sunil Chhetri who netted the first goal for India in the final was named player of the tournament and received a motor car for his exploits.
India won the SAFF Cup for a sixth time yesterday stamping their superiority in the region.
