Ratnam S. C. started off their second leg campaign in the Champions League soccer tournament with an easy 2-0 win over Army at Ratnapura Esplanade on Saturday. With this win Ratnam took revenge on the Soldiers who inflicted a loss on them in the first leg played in Colombo in the opener of the 2011 Champions League.

Soldiers played a better game but it was Ratnam's goal keeper Sugath Tillekeratne who stood like an iron between the posts and saved his side. Midway in the first half, Ratnam opened scoring with a goal coming from the boot of evergreen Rowmie Mohideen who sent in a 25 yard booming free kick which beat the Army goal keeper. In the meantime, M. N. M. Izzadeen's many efforts were blocked by Tillakeratne.

In the second half, Tharusha Rangana dribbled past several players and scored the second goal for Ratnam. With twenty minutes left, Army was awarded a penalty. But L. Jayatunga missed the opportunity and it cost his side a golden opportunity to avoid the defeat.
