No one has spoken to me about captaincy – Jayawardene
Former skipper Mahela Jayawardene said that he needs time to think whether to accept the Sri Lanka captaincy, in case it was offered to him again. Jayawardene revealed this at a press conference held in Kimberly on Thursday.
Asked whether there had been talks of him being offered the national captaincy again, Jayawardene simply denied it.
"No, not with me; No one spoken to me," Jayawardene said.
"I've seen the articles and it's been there for the last six months and I know that. But those things are not in my control," he said.
Jayawardene ducked the question of accepting the captaincy if offered again.
“I'll think about it and I need time. It's a big one. It's a big question," Jayawardene said.
"It’s not the easiest one. But I need time to think about that," he said.
The senior batsman is not playing in the fourth ODI against South Africa due to a back injury. He will consult another doctor when the team gets back to Johannesburg on Saturday.
"I'm just here, purely concentrating on this tour and try and to get over my injuries," Jayawardene said.

Please do take the role!!!!
Please DO NOT take this role Mr. Jayawardene because you will be “stumped” by a higher authority which I will not name. You and Sanga are not only national cricketers but are national treasures to this game. You both are international diplomats of Cricket. Stay out of Sri Lanka politics for local politics is for those who embrace evil.
