First innings win for Royal

Royal though making a mammoth score of 456 for 7 had to be satisfied with a first inning win against Thurstan in the match concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Thurstan after being sent to bat on day two were bowled out for 169 but fared better the second time to hold the Royalists as they ended the day on 170 for 4.

Thurstan skipper Sajeewa Salgado who made a knock of 80 reached the milestone of 1000 runs for the season. Sajeewa’s feat came off 14 matches inclusive of 23 innings which had four tons and five half tons.
