The Western Province Individual Chess Championship 2012 was conducted at the Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya Borella. In the under 8 boys category Gimantha Gayasha Kiriella of St. Peter College Colombo was placed first and secured the gold medal.
In the under 10 boys category Raveen Nimesh Askey also of St. Peter’s College Colombo came first and secured the gold medal for that category while Nimesha Shalinda Kiriella contesting under the Under 12 category also secured the gold medal and was placed first. He too is from St. Peter’s College Colombo.
