Life ban for drug users – Sports Minister

All sportsmen and women who are found guilty for doping will be banned for life while coaches and doctors too are to be meted out with stern punishments said the the Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage.
He said that while addressing a Sports seminar organized by the sports Ministrry of the North Central Province in Anuradhapura.
"Some coaches and doctors too are supporting these sports personalities to use drugs that are banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). They should be punished severely" said the Minister.
He further said that 33 sports men and women were detected for using performance enhancing drugs while participating in local events. In 2011 alone, a total of 11 positive cases of drug use was detected the minister said.
