Suresh, Damith participate in final boxing selection for Olympics

Two boxers P.D. Suresh and Damith Wijeratne have left for Kazakhstan to participate at the Asian qualifying round for boxing for the forthcoming Olympic Games in London. This is the final qualification boxing meet for the Asians. Sri Lanka have kept faith on these two boxers in the Flyweight under 52 kg and Bantamweight under 56 kg. The last four boxers in the Flyweight and three boxers in the Bantamweight qualify for the Olympics.

This is why the Lankan authorities have taken a keen interest in selecting these two boxers for the Asian qualifying round after the trials which was conducted by the Amateur Boxing Association. The meet which began on April 4 will continue till April 13. Suresh represents the Slimline Boxing Club, while Damith Wijeratne is a boxer from the Unichela Group of Companies.
