Gayan, Upul, Jacques and Ananda win a double each

Gayan Sandaruwan stole the lime light when he equaled the record of six victories held by Ananda Wedisinghe on Sunday winning both events to become the day’s hero in the Group MX Motor Bikes up to 125 and 250cc class.

He won the first event after a very late start with Shaehan C. Adikari geeting of to a good lead up to five laps. Gayan who kept on chasing the race leader got the better o Shehan only in the fifth lap and held on to his lead while until the finish. The second race of this race was a complete domination by the champion rider Gayan. This time he took a great start to gain the lead ollowed by the Shehan again. But gayan was at his best and gave no room for young rider to get closer to him and managed to win comfortably to become the champion rider for the Fox Hill Super Cross 2012.

The other rider to excel on this day was Udesh Wedisinghe who also went on to win a double in Super Motard Category. The most interesting was the double won by ten year old Jacques Goonewardene who has been performing well on tarmac as well as on gravel tracks. He and his younger brother Aaron have become a big challenge to all experienced riders in Sri Lanka. The absence of Aaron saw Evon B. Gurusinghe take the second spot in both events where Jacques won.

M.G.S. Sarath Kumara won the Super Motard even t race I while and Lahiru Jeewantha had the better of Kumara in the next race .

Upulwan Serasinghe too managed to win two events the Ford Laser/ Mazda 1300and the 1500cc classes to prove that he is the man in contention for the championship in these two classes. Rohitha Rajapaksa had to face stiff competition from ourteen year old Kushan Peiris before winning the Group SL-N standard Cars up to 1000cc. the second runner up to him was Gayan Ranatunga.

The biggest event for the day SL-GT up to 3500cc Class saw Dinesh Deheragoda, Pasindu Peiris and Aravinda Premadasa fight a battle to prove supremacy in this category. Deheragoda won the race I who was in the pole position. He lead from the start to inish as the clear winner. In the second race it was Pasindu who took the chequered flag before Dinesh. Here it was Pasindu who got off to a flying atart and maintained it until the end inish ahead of Dinesh which also assured the 2012 Champions Trophy for him.

Another up and coming driver in the SL-N Cars up to 1500cc Dilan Seneviratne too had a good day winning the same event comfortably ahead of experienced drivers in this class Janaka Dias and Upulwan Serasinghe. Shashika Lakmal won the Mini 7 up to 1000ccbeating Donald Buultjens and Shafraz Junaid. Yoga Perera drove his Mini Cosmic Special to grab the honors in the SL- A Cars up to 1050cc in highly competitive race where most of the leading drivers were competing.

Another high light was the appearance o two great drivers Rizvi Farook and Sajjaad Zuhair who were seen on the track for the twentieth year. Two of them have been racing since the beginning of the Fox Hill Super Cross way back in 1993. On the twentieth Fox Hill two of them also made it to the podium together in SL-N Cars up to 1500cc when Sajaad Zuhair was placed first and Rizvi Farook being the second runner up.
