Nethmi Waduge clinches triple tennis crowns

Nethmi Waduge, thirteen year old student of Visakha Vidyalaya, Bambalapitiya stole the limelight by clinching triple tennis crowns at Bandarawela annual open all island Ranking (B.grade) tennis tournament 2012 concluded at the Bandarawela Tennis club Courts Last Saturday.
Nethmi Waduge, the top need in the girls under 14 category continued her top from to annex the girls under 14, 16 and women’s open singles titles.
Nethmi had the distinction of being the only player from Sri Lanka to be selected to the ITF Asia touring team that contested in the ITF Asia under 14 Division one.
Tennis Championship which consisted of two rounds and held in Manila Philippians from March 4 to 17.
She secured the 12th place in the first round and 14th place in the second.
In the men’s category Thangarajah Dineshkanthan pocketed a double as he beat Dinusha Wijesuriya 7-5, 6-3 in the men’s open singles and then pairing with Chehan Fernando Chinthaka Shaveen and Aritha Weerasinghe 6-3, 6-2 in the open doubles final.
