Sri Lanka loses to Jordan
Sri Lankan soccerites were once again at the losing end when they were beaten 2 – Nil by Jordan under 22 team in the Al Nakba Cup second edition being played at Palestine.
After a string of confusions Sri Lanka finally faced Jordan at the Faisal Husseini Stadium on Friday and was beaten soundly.
The first half saw both teams fighting it out equally but in the 40th minute due to a mess up in the Sri Lankan defence Jordan scored their first goal through Monzer Abu-Amara.
After the short whistle when play resumed one of the Sri Lankan defenders brought down an opponent inside the box and Musab Al-Lahhman obliged with the spot kick and put Jordan further ahead in the 47th minute.
After this goal the Sri Lankans fought hard to score but all their attempts were foiled. Sri Lankawill meet Tunisia at Nablus Football Stadium on Sunday. It is reported that Tunisia is fielding their under 20 team in this tournament.
If Sri Lanka wins by a 3-goal margin they will qualify to play in the semi-finals. Tunisia and Jordan have a win each and both have registered 2-nil victories apiece.
