The Asian Athletic Association has informed the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka that the approval to host the 15th Asian Junior Championship has been granted again to Sri Lanka. Therefor the Asian Junior Athletic Champion will be held from June 9 to 12 as scheduled, confirmed Major General Daya Ratnayake, the president of the Athletic Association of Sri Lanka, on Tuesday.

The Asian Athletic Association (AAA) decided, on Monday, not to go ahead with the Asian Junior Athletic Championships owing to several disputes regarding the last elections and an ill-informed letter, sent to them, by one of the former officials.

However, The minister of Sports, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, spoke to Maurice Nicholas, the general secretary of Asian Athletic Association, to convince him the hardships that Sri Lanka has taken in preparing for the meet.

The minister has sent a fully descriptive letter to the Asian body as well.

Considering all these factors, the Asian controlling body of athletics, has re-granted permission to Sri Lanka to host the event. The government is willing to spend more than 65 million for the event.
