Lankans outplay Slovakian 3-0 in wheel Chair tennis
Sri Lankan wheel chair team beat Slovakia three matches to nil in a Group ‘C’ tie at the World Wheel Chair Tennis Championships, held in Seoul, Korea. In the first match Sri Lankan National wheel chair Champion Upali Rajakaruna registered a comfortable 2-0 (6-1, 6-2) victory over Thomas Mazarak, while in the next game it was Gamini Dissanayke who too made his way to another good win over David Chabrik 2-0 (6-3, 6-1).
These two victories gave the Lankans a great boost and two of them got together in the doubles with confidence. They went on to defeat their earlier rivals in the same manner 2-0 (6-3., 6-1) to record a three nil victory to move to the next round. According to the world rankings for Wheel Chair Tennis Upali Rajakaruna is ranked at 71st position while his team mate Dissanayake is holding on to the 79th place.
