MSC’s Satter Records 3rd Successive Win

The completion of the third day’s proceedings in the 2nd AAC President’s Trophy snooker championship conducted by the Automobile Association of Ceylon saw Abdul Sattar of MSC recording his third successive win with a three frames to nil win over M.S.M. Shafraz of RPP played at the AAC billiards table.

Defending champion Susantha Boteju of YMCA and last year’s runner up Ryan Somaratna of Otters AC began their campaign with convincing wins over M.M. Mubeen (MICH) and M. Nasoordeen (POP) with the identical winning margin of 3-0.

Meanwhile, Prasanna Pushpakumara of YMBA, Naresh Samarawickrama of Galle CC and Angelo Coonghe of Otters AC recorded their second successive win to advance to the next round when they defeated Rohitha de Silva (SLPA), W.M. Naushad (TC) and H.A.M. Rimzan respectively.

Chamaka Atapattu of RPP who won the Amateur tournament met his waterloo when he was beaten by L. Pratap of Kandy Madymalanka (KML) while A.A. Kareem of AAC and M. Munzi of MSC began their campaigns on a winning note.

The tournament has reached the last stages and today is the penultimate day where the pre-quarter finals are scheduled to be played at 10.00 a.m. and 12.30 p.m.

This will be followed by the four quarter final matches with two to be played at 3.00 p.m. and the other two at 5.30 p.m. The two semi finals are scheduled to be played on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. and the curtains of the tournament will come down with the final clash scheduled to be played from 3.00 p.m. onwards on the same day. Defending champion Susantha Boteju of YMCA began his campaign with an easy 3-0 win over M.M. Mubeen of MICH.

Naushad (The Cue) 3/0 (67/57, 72/27, 75/53). Angelo Coonghe (Otters AC) beat H.A.M. Rimzan (MSC) 3/2 (36/49, 20/49, 55/45, 52/15, 83/16), M. Munzi (MSC) beat S. Hazari (SSC) 3/0 (65/26, 57/23, 88/40), Abdul Sattar (MSC) beat M.S.M. Shafraz (Rileys) 3/0 (71/32, 48/04, 62/07).
