The Finance confront HNB “B” in final

“Giant – Killers”, The Finance Co. PLC will be up against the vastly experienced, HNB “B” in the final of the Third D.Samson & Sons (Pvt) Ltd., “Avi” Sports Trophy, MCA “F” division 30 overs League Tournament on Saturday, June 2 at the MCA ground commencing 10.00 a.m.

When The Finance Co. took the last berth in the top 16 at the completion of the league stage, none imagined that they could survive in the elimination stage of the tournament.

In the knock-out stage game one TFC took on one of the tournament favourites, E-Wis in the pre-quarter final and scored a shocking 18 runs win at the MCA ground.

In the quarter-finals, TFC eliminated another group leader HSBC “B” by 14 runs at Thurstan College ground. The Semi Final, hampered by rain, reduced to 10-overs -aside game, TFC jumped the final hurdle beating the fancied, Bodyline by 9 runs at the MCA ground.

Proving that experience was the best teacher, HNB “B” with their “Old Brigade” marched into the final beating Ceylinco Insurance (Group “D” winner) by 2-wickets in the Prequarter final. Emerchemie NB (group “F” winner) by 9 wickets in the quarter –final and Dialog “B” (who eliminated the tournament favourites, MAS Active “B”) by 8 wickets in the Semi-Final.
