Upali and Gamini for London Paralympics

Sri Lanka’s leading wheel chair tennis stars Upali Rajakaruna and Gamini Dissanayake have received the wild card entry for the Paralympic Games to be held in London soon after the London Olympics. The Paralympics Games is scheduled to be conducted from August 29 to September 9. Upali and Gamini will battle it out in the doubles category where 64 competitors are engaged battle.  The governing body for the Games has informed the organizers in Sri Lanka that Upali and Gamini will be receiving the wild card entry from Group II according to the rules specified by them.

According to the world ranking for wheel chair tennis Sri Lanka’s champion Upali Rajakaruna is ranked 59 while Gamini Dissanayake is ranked No. 70. The duo won the bronze medal in the doubles event during the World Wheel Chair Tennis Championship held in Seoul, South Korea.
