Airman Buddhika wins Air Force Cycle Tour

Buddhika Warnakulasuriya of Sri Lanka won the overall championship of the Sri Lanka Air Force organized two-day Cycle Tour. The two stage tour commenced from Colombo and reached Kandy which was won by Buddhika. The second stage from Kandy to Mawathagama was won by Sri Lanka Navy’s Hemantha Kumara which covered a distance of 145.6 km and saw 31 riders follow the winner in a bunch which included Buddhika. Buddhika recorded the best time for both stages clocking 6hrs 45.36 seconds, while Sri Lanka Army’s Krishan Madhusanka and Thushan Chandana who clocked the identical time were place second and third respectively.

Airman Jeevan Jayasinghe was the overall second runner up and also went on to win the Sprint Championship, Sri Lanka Army’s Thushan Chandana was declared as the Best Hill Climber. The Air Force team led by Jeevan Jayasinghe carried away the team championship for the year 2012.
