Hard Fought win for Java Lane

Java Lane SC scored a hard fought 3 goals to two win over Solid SC played at the City Football Complex on Sunday.

It was unfortunate for Solid SC who had been playing from the first round that they should have been given a fair chance to play this match at their home town.

However after a long journey the club from Anuradhapura put up stiff challenge to the much fancied Java Lane who led by a solitary goal in the first half.

For Java Lane, S. Madava, M. Abdullah, M. Nagoor Meera scored. T. Danoj and C. Praboth scored for Solid. Negombo Youth SC qualified to play in the fourth round of the FA Cup by scoring a hard fought 2 nil victory over New Star at the Kelaniya Football Complex on Saturday.

The match was equally fought and the second half penalty awarded to the Negombo club ensured its win. T. Dammika and Chatura Guneratne scored for the winners. This match was postponed earlier as Negombo Youth's only goal keeper was away in Saudi Arabia with the U 22 Sri Lanka team which fared miserably in the AFC U 22 Championship 2013 qualifying round.

The third round FA Cup match between Kalutara Park and Red Star will be played at Vernon Fernando Stadium in Kalutara.
