Dharmasiri Rahubadde, consultant of Fauna and Landscaping Company who is responsible for laying of the Mondo Track at the Sugathadasa Stadium has informed the foreign suppliers about the damage detected in the ‘B’ section of the track.

He said that the damage was brought to the notice of the company by the Minister of Sports Mahindananda Aluthgamage.

“On inquiry the damage was detected by our local experts. We immediately informed the foreign suppliers for which we received a prompt reply stating their arrival soon,” Rahubadde said.

The world governing body has already issued the green light establishing that the stadium is up to international standards. Though this was issued the stadium authorities have not yet officially taken over the full responsibility of the track.

Rahubadde added that the foreign company has given them a guarantee period valid for five years under certain conditions. “The guarantee includes the damages caused to the track due natural disasters, but the damages caused by way of misuse do not come under them,” he said.

actually the track was laid by Action Sports International from HKG.
They are doing the same in Masterton New Zealand (where the track is now one year late) – ouch – liquidated damages !
