Renown through to semis

Meanwhile several missed chancescost New Youngs dearly as Renown booked a place in the semi-final beating theformer by two goals to nil in the quarterfinal played at the Kelaniya Football Complex on Sunday. Renown dominated from the firstwhistle and they came close to scoring when M.N.M. Fazal's neat pass wasfumbled by Dimuthu Priyadharshana.

Immediately after New Youngs too hada golden opportunity to go into the lead but Sameera’s attempt did not have anypower and the chance went a begging. On the stroke of the first half itwas Dimuthu who again failed to score for Renown.

After the change over  Dilan Roshan going solo in the right flank dribbled past a couple of defenders and sent  in a cross to see to his own belief  the ballbrushing the far  post and going into the net. This goal gave Renown some kind ofrelief. New Youngs fought hard for the equalizer but Mushin Khan twice and Sameera missed easy chances in the process. During the dying minutes M.K.M.Hakeem scored the second goal from close range to ensure Renown booked a berthin the semi finals.
