CCC school of cricket wins three matches at seenigama
CCC School of Cricket’s under 13 ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams were hosted for four cricket matches at ‘Surrey Oval’, the lovely signature cricket ground of the Foundation at Seenigama during the weekend.
The Foundation teams consisted of players from schools such as Wimala Jothi College, Seenigama, Devapathiraja College, Ratgama, Madampa MV, Madampe, and Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda.
Of the four matches played over the week-end CCC School of Cricket won three while the Foundation of Goodness Combined XI won the other.
Thanuka Dabare (CCC), R.M. Kasun (Foundation) excelled with the bat scoring two half centuries while Kanishka Gallage and Chirath Samarakoon captured four wickets each. Anura de Silva of the Foundation of Goodness coordinated and organized the whole tour.
Foundation of Goodness, Seenigama is the brain child of Kushil Gunasekera, who turned the little known village of Seenigama into a world renowned centre of excellence for community development especially through cricket with the aid of sports lovers of England, Australia, Sri Lanka and other countries.this village near Hikkaduwa was devastated by the Tsunami in 2004. Thanks to Kushil Gunasekera and the band of trustees including Muthiah Muralitharan, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardena, Chaminda Vaas etc, the village has come off in flying colours bringing a smile on to the down and out people of Seenigama specially the young children. Foundation – 58 in 25.5 overs (Samith 22 Not out, Suhanga Wijewardena 2 for 9, Pasindu Pandigama 2 for 12). CCC School of Cricket beat Foundation Combined XI by 141 runs
CCC – 194 for 10 wickets in 30 overs (Nipun Alwis 36, Suhanga Wijewardena 31,
Ayana Siriwardena 26, Manoj Mahendra 21, Pasindu Pandigama 25 n.o; S. Samith 3 for 27)
Foundation XI – 53 for 10 in 26.2 overs (Kaveesha 22; Chirath Samarakoon 4 for 1, Adeepa Welgama 2 for 3, Aaron Gunaratne 2 for 12). CCC School of Cricket beat Foundation Combined XI by 21 runs.
CCC – 125 for 8 in 30 overs (Thanuka Dabare 57, Ashel Sigera 20, Chirath Samarakoon 17; Shashika 2 for 20, Ravin 2 for 25)
Foundation Combined XI – 104 in 28 overs (R.M. Kasun 51, S. Malith 15; Kanishka Gallage 4 for 9, Thanuka Dabare 2 for 9, Anuj Aloysius 2 for 11) Foundation of Goodness Combined XI beat CCC School of Cricket by 30 runs
Foundation Combined XI – 95 for 5 wickets in 30 overs (Avishka 21, Raveen 18, Kasun 16; Nelukshan de Silva 2 for 14).
CCC School of Cricket – 65 for 9 wickets in 30 overs (Nelukshan de Silva 16, Manoj Mahendra 13; Sajith 2 for 3, Avishka 2 for 10, Hareen 2 for 26, Gayan 2 for 13).
