Shehan slams career best knock
Shehan Jayasuriya’s career best knock of 162 helped Moors end the opening day’s play making a formidable 364 for 9 against Colts in their Under 23 Division One semi final encounter played at the NCC grounds.
The left hand batsman’s effort came in just 156 balls and comprised 21 boundaries and a six. Shehan was associated in two century stands with the first being a 121 run partnership for the first wicket with Shalitha Helambage.
He followed it up with another 134 run stand for the second wicket with Isham Ghouse. The match will be continued at 9.45 a.m. today.

Denuwantoo cracks career best
Tamil Union right hand batsman Denuwan Rajakaruna too slammed a career best knock when he made an unbeaten 162 from 177 balls against Air Force in the other semi final which began at the Colts grounds yesterday. Denuwan’s knock included 21 boundaries and two sixes which helped Tamil Union after being invited to take first lease of the wicket of the end at the day on 395 for 5.
Denuwan was involved in two valuable partnerships with the first being a massive 202 run stand for the fifth wicket with Gayan Manishan who made 72 and the other an unbroken 91 run stand for the sixth wicket with Chathuranga de Silva who was unbeaten on 51. The match will be continued at 9.45 a.m. today.
