Royal defeat Isipathana clinch U14 Milo Trophy

Last year’s runner up Royal juniors clinched the All Island Milo Under 14 ten a side rugby title when they defeated Isipathana 14-00 in the final played at the Royal Sports Complex ground in Reid Avenue yesterday.

There was no scoring in the second half with Royal making their scoring through two goals in the first half. In the run up to the final Royal overcame Science while Isipathana got the better of Trinity in a close encounter.

Last year’s champions S. Thomas' had to be satisfied with the Bowl title when they beat DS Senanayake 7-5 in a thrilling final while Kingswood took the Plate title with a convincing win over St. Peter's and Lumbini MV taking the Shield title which they achieved in another thrilling final against St. John's Nugegoda with a score of 17-12. Lumbini MV's match winning try was scored in the dying stages of the match. The All Island Milo Under 14 Milo Ten a Side tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association and sponsored by Nestle Lanka Ltd saw 29 teams fighting for supremacy over two days.Sajeewa Wickramasinghe Activation and Sponsorship Manager Nestle Lanka Ltd was the chief guest at the closing ceremony and gave away the awards.
