Chanderpaul joins Uva Next

West Indian lefthander Shivnarine Chanderpaul has joined the Uva Next team for the remaining matches of the Sri Lankan Premier League. Chanderpaul, the most experienced of the current West Indian cricketers, is a regular text match player having played 144 Test Matches, 268 ODI’s and 22 Twenty20 Matches for West Indies. Chanderpaul is currently ranked 4th in the ICC test ranking for batsman.

Chanderpaul joins other internationals Jacob Oram (New Zealand), Andrew McDonald (Australia), Umar Gul, Shoaib Malik and Fawad Alam (Pakistan) who are the other overseas players for the Uva Next.

Uva Next won their 1st game in the SLPL convincingly beating Basnahira Cricket Dundee by 8 wickets. The team is currently in Pallekele, getting ready for their next round of matches to be played in the Hill Country. Uva will play Wayamba United on 17th, Uthura Rudras on the 19th and Ruhuna Royals on the 21st of August.

The Team is coached by former Indian all-rounder Robin Singh and the manager is Cricket Commentator Ranjit Fernando. Former Sri Lankan Captain Aravinda De Silva is the Team Mentor. Uva Next is owned and Managed by Success Sports (Pvt) Ltd.
