Wayamba crush Basnahira in style

The scorecard of Basnahira Cricket Dundee looked like more of a telephone number as Wayamba United registered an easy 67 runs victory in the SLPL match played at Pallekale International Cricket Stadium, on Sunday.

Having been set to make 166, Basnahira Cricket Dundees were never on target since they lost their star opener, T. M. Dilshan for nine runs. Later they were bowled out for 98 in 19.1 overs. Only Rilee Rossouw of South Africa managed to score 20, the highest for BCD.

Wayamba lads put a superb combine effort as Kaushal Weeraratne and teenager, Akila Dhananjaya, sharing five wickets among them.

Electing to bat first, Tamim Iqbal and Akmal raced to 47 in 22 balls before Jeevan Mendis hold on to a good catch to get rid of Iqbal who made 18 in 11 balls but the rest ofhis team mates took Mahela Jayawardane's team to a comfortable total of 165.

Akmal included nine boundaries to his 65. Charl Langeveldt claimed 3 for 36 while T. M. Dilshan deploying seven bowlers in 20 overs.
