Uva beat Uthura by 4 wickets
Umar Gul bowled a dream spell of 3-2-03-2 to set the platform for a convincing four wickets win for Uva Next over Uthura Rudras in the SLPL match played at Pallekale International Cricket Stadium, on Sunday.
Set to make 125, Uva Next marched at a well set pace and blasted 25 runs in the last 13 balls to finish it off in style, with Sachithra Senanayake hitting a magnificent six over mid-wicket. Shoaib Malik played a decent role by scoring 26 off 15 balls, with three hits to the rope.
Deciding to bat first, Uthura Rudra's were restricted to 124 as Gul and Jacob Oram doing most of the damage. Gul was well supported by New Zealander, Jacob Oram, who bowled his four over quota for 15 runs before the Pakistani was hammered for 20 runs in his last over. Gul's final figures read as 4-2-23-2.
The best five of Uthura top order were back in the pavilion by 14th over with only 68 runs on the board They were 8 wickets down for 97 before all-rounder Janaka Gunaratne hit 30 runs in 17 balls to add smiles for Uthura faces. Gunaratne smashed two sixes and two fours to add 27 runs for the ninth wicket in 10 balls.
