Tanvir, Ajmal shine as Kandurata beat Ruhuna Royals
Two Pakistanis, Sohai Tanvir and Saeed Ajmal excelled with ball as Kandurata Warriors beat Ruhuna Royals by 42 runs in the SLPL match played at Pallekale International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Chasing a target of 143, Ruhuna Royals were bowled out for 100 runs in 17.2 overs as Tanvir and Ajmal shared six wickets among them, conceding only 27 runs.
It was Sohail Tanvir who smashed Ruhuna hopes at the outset with a brilliant show of left arm seam bowling to claim 3 wickets for 4 runs. As a result, Lasith Malinga's men were put on the back foot at 49 for 4 by the 11th over. They never recovered from there.
Lahiru Thirimanne and Sahid Afridi did their best to do some repair work in the Ruhuna Innings but failed to drive their team towards the target.
Even for Kandurata Warriors, only Kithruwan Vithanage and Jeevantha Kulatunga managed to go beyond 30 runs mark. However, the innings was built on scant contributions from each of their players. They were too dismissed in 19.2 overs to give an indication of difficult conditions for batsmen to perform.
