Hindu College, Matale began their under 19 inter school cricket season on a winning note, when they beat Christ Church College, Matale outright by 2 wickets in a match played at Hindu College ground Mandandawela in Matale on February 4th and 5th.
Christ Church having been restricted to a score of 96, came back to bowl out Hindu College for 103 with bowlers dominating the proceedings.
Christ Church in their second essay too, failed to impress and were shot out for a low score of 70 in 18 overs. Hindus in their run chase knocked off the required runs in 23 overs for the loss of eight wickets.
The highlight of this low scoring match was the bowling feat of Hindu College opening bowler, right arm pacer
R. Navaneethan, who had a five wicket haul (5/35) in the first innings followed it up with another 5/35 to end up with a match bag of 10 for 70 runs.
