Kandy SC clinched the 2015/16 Dialog Rugby League title with a 19-08 win over Navy SC at Welisara on Saturday.
The defending champions headed into the penultimate matchweek eight points clear of second-placed Havelock SC and ensured that the title returns to Kandy with this win.
Kandy led 19 points to 03 at the break. They scored three tries, of which two were converted and Navy scored an unconverted try and a penalty.
Havelocks beat resurgent CR & FC 26-21, having trailed 19-21 going into the final quarter of the game. Havies led 14-06 at half-time but CR struck back with two tries to take the lead, before the home team scored to take back the advantage.
Havelocks will travel to Kandy next week to play the champions-elect trailing the champions-elect by seven points, effectively meaning that even a bonus point win will see them fall one point short of usurping Kandy SC for the title.
