Thurstan record second outright win

Thurstan College recorded their second outright win of the ongoing Under 19 inter-school cricket season when they coasted to a convincing ten-wicket win over Bandaranayake MMV Gampaha in the match concluded at Thurstan ground on Friday.

Thurstan were on top when play ended on day one having bundled out their opponents for a low score of 82. They declared their innings on 191 for 8 when play stopped.

The second day’s play saw Bandaranayake MMV batting the second time with a deficit of 109 runs faring better but were restricted to a score of 137 leaving Thurstan just 29 runs for victory. They reached the target  in the sixth over.

Ismail guides St. Thomas to victory

Mohamed Ismail guided St. Thomas Matale to victory with an impressive match bag figures of 11 for 79 which helped his side record an innings and 16-run win over St. Xavier’s Marawila in the match concluded at Matale.

A knock of 70 by Nuwan Madusanka and seven-wicket haul by Sasith Maduranga paved the way for Rahula MV Matara to record an innings and 56-run win over Debarawewa National School in the match which ended at Uyanwatte Stadium in Matara.

St. John’s Panadura registered a first innings win over Tissa MMV Kalutara in a high scoring match which ended at Panadura. Tissa MMV in reply to the Johnians score of 319, resuming from their overnight score of 120 for 1 were bowled out for 254.
