Many would feel that Sri Lanka’s top referee Dilroy Fernando had at least another good couple of years ahead of him as a match official. Yet comes the shocking news of the decision of retirement of a man who thrived for perfection as a rugby referee.
Science College, Mount Lavinia having suspended their coach Amila Chathuranga and vice captain for two weeks following their inappropriate behaviour after the match against St. Peter’s last week, has decided to slap the same suspension on their rugby manager J. Dissanayake.
Trinity College, Kandy and Dharmaraja College, Kandy continued their close tussle atop the Under 20 Singer Schools rugby league Division 1A table, following wins in their sixth round fixtures against St. Anthony’s College and Wesley College respectively – also remaining unbeaten for the season.
In a bizarre turn of events following the incident at the Singer Division 1A inter-school league rugby encounter between St. Peter’s and Science College Mt Lavinia last weekend, news comes that Science College authorities have slapped a two-week suspension on their coach and a player of the team.
