Ruhuna beat Uthura by 35 runs

Aron Finch and Gihan Rupasinghe hit half centuries to power Ruhunu Royals to 35 runs (D/L Method) win over Uthuru Rudras in the sixth SLPL match played at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, on Tuesday night.

Chasing 154 in 16 overs, according to D/L system, Uthura was restricted to 118 after a classic display of hostile bowling by Lasith Malinga, who claimed 4 for 21 in four overs, including a maiden over.

The rain hit encounter was restricted to 16 overs per side, after rain intervened in the 15th over. The play was stopped after 14.3 overs before resuming to bowl nine more balls later as Ruhuna amassed 145 for three wickets.

Ruhuna had a great start with Finch and Rupasinghe adding 97 runs for the first wicket in mere 65 balls. Finch went on to make 65 off 48 balls with six fours and couple of sixes while Gihan Rupasinghe hammering 55 in 35 balls with five boundaries and two sixes.

Ruhuna bowling was too hot to handle by Uthura Rudras as Lasith Malinga claimed man of the match for his bowling.
